As I was meditating on Isaiah 6, this song came to me. As I was softly singing it to myself, I couldn’t hold back my tears.
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold
And precious silver
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold
Pure gold
Refiner’s fire
My heart’s one desire
Is to be, Holy
Set apart for You, Lord
I choose to be, Holy
Set apart for You my Master
Ready to do Your will
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from within
And make me holy
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from my sin
Deep within
Refiner’s fire
My heart’s one desire
Is to be, Holy
Set apart for You, Lord
I choose to be, Holy
Set apart for You my Master
Ready to do Your will
God initiates His own revelation to His people out of His graciousness. When we see God, we see His holiness.
But before I can see Him, I need to repent my sins and ask God to purify my heart. I suppose this is rather logical. How can I ever see Him when sin is in the way? I see Him through Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is sinless.
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3
